“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”
Psalm 32:1 (NIV)
God promised that if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men for their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14). Forgiveness, therefore, is the gateway to redemption (as demonstrated at Cavalry — Luke 23:34). Unforgiveness, on the other hand, is a burden. It is a weight that people carry around that impedes one’s spiritual progress.
Our God is a forgiving God. He desires a personal relationship with his children, all of us. As part of this relationship, we, like David, must frankly confess our sins or flaws in His presence while we trust in His forgiving power, His everlasting love, and His boundless mercy. As we read Psalm 32, we envisage a vivid image of a person with his head bowed in sorrow at the recognition of sin, who is then able to lift up his head or have God lift it up in recognition of the forgiveness he has been granted. Be encouraged to acknowledge your sin, for God does not cover up iniquity. Verse 5 (NIV) says, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
In our daily lives, men often sin against us. Forgive people who sin against you quickly (Jesus did on the cross) and move on, or God will not forgive you. Don’t keep a record of the wrong people have done to you. Redemption is our goal. We are redeemed through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. “Into your hand, I commit my spirit, redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth (Psalm 31:5).
God redeemed us so that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles — to us so that, by faith, we might receive the promise of the Holy Spirit. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, ask him for forgiveness of your sins, and live a humble and forgiving lifestyle, and you will be redeemed.
Finally, you may have to make a phone call to someone who hurt you or to someone for reconciliation; do it with love.
